Harvest time on the steep vineyards of Riesling grapes that cover the south-facing slopes above Piesport on the right bank of the Mosel River in Germany. Grapes have been planted on these slopes since Roman times, and today the grapes are a rare example of European monoculture. The vineyards here are planted parallel to the slope to allow for machine harvesting.
