Erebus Glacier Tongue, the end of the glacier as it descends Mt. Erebus and meets McMurdo Sound, where it floats on the water. During the summer thaw, the Erebus Glacier Tongue is surrounded on three sides by seawater, and wave action erodes its edge into a scalloped pattern of bays.
