Commercial indoor farming using LED lights with aeroponic feeding and irrigation to produce arugula, spring mix, kale, and watercress, which is sold in local supermarkets. Their technology involves aeroponics, where a nutrient-rich solution is sprayed on the roots of the plants, which are grown from seed placed on a porous mat that forms a barrier between the upper plant and its roots. This new start-up, Aerofarms, is working with technology developed by Edward Harwood, a scientist at Cornell University.
