Quero Niuni Island, Mozambique. October 23, 2012. Women use a fine mesh net to catch small fish in the shallow waters surrounding this islet off the coast of Mozambique. Quero Niuni is used as a base for local fishing boats to access one of the last reefs with large fish in the Querimba Archipelago. As the rich waters of Mozambique are emptied of marine life, villagers find themselves fishing with finer-meshed nets for increasingly smaller fish to feed their families.
