A warming climate with longer summers and increased rainfall favors the wild grasses that provide hay for cattle and has benefited some dairy farmers in the high Alps. The family of Josef Aschwanden (in blue sweatshirt) has been haying near Uri, Switzerland, since 1683, and now he doesn’t have enough barn space to store it all.
