Photographer George Steinmetz after getting 19 stitches in his face at a hospital in Shanshan, Xinjiang, China. About an hour earlier he crashed his ultra-light while taking off from a riverbed at sunrise. He clipped the top of a tree with his motorized paraglider, and one of the paraglider lines got snagged in the branches, swinging him around and into the ground. He needed 6 stitches inside the wound, 10 on the outside, and 3 more where his teeth had perforated the inside of his mouth. He sustained no other injury, but his aircraft had 4 shattered propellers and a broken propeller cage.
