Aerial views of the north/south road leading into the Taklimakan oil field. The road is protected from sand storms by a green belt of salt-tolerant plants that are irrigated by salty well water fed through a drip irrigation system. Every few km along the road is a small blue building housing workers who monitor and repair a section of the greenbelt. In some photos, they are visible (in their blue uniforms) maintaining the irrigation lines, with a bicycle parked near by which they use to access the part of the greenbelt that needs attention.
