Head lettuce and leaf lettuce being sprayed for mildew by a Bell 47 helicopter just west of Greenfield, CA. Salinas Valley is one of the most productive areas in the US for vegetable production. The red and green striped crops are red and green leaf lettuce "spring mix" for consumption throughout the US and Canada. The pilot was spraying different amounts of insecticide and fungicide to treat plants at different stages of their growth. This is the end of the harvest season, and the plants want to turn into slime.
