Dinka cattle camp on a small river channel on the east bank of the Nile, near Bor. Cattle are brought here in the dry season to have good grazing and water. Each night the cattle return to camp to keep them safe from cattle theives and swarms of insects, which are kept away with dung fires. The small igloo-like structures are shelters for the Dinka, who now cover them with tarpaulins cast off by aid agencies.
