Floating communities of fish farmers have emerged in the last twenty years in the shallow muddy waters of Louyuan Bay. Yellow croaker and abalone are the primary money earners. The abalone are fed locally cultivated seaweed, and the croaker are given small by-catch from commercial net fishing.
