Hut constructed by team of Sir Ernest Shackleton at Cape Royds in 1907, now being preserved by Antarctic Heritage Trust. It was used by other early explorers and then abandoned until the 1960s. When it was reopened it was filled with snow that had filtered through the walls and ceiling. It has been restored according to photos taken during Shackleton's expedition. Shackleton's party was the first to reach the summit of Mt. Erebus.
