The world's largest shrimp farm, Bumi Dipasena, was a mangrove swamp before it was turned into a shrimp farm in 1993. Located in the Southern Sumatran province of Lampung, it was originally designed to be worked by 9,000 families who were moved here from overcrowded parts of Indonesia as part of a trans-migration program.
