Women fishing in the shallows of Quero Niuni Island in the Quirimbas Archipelago wield a net so fine it could double as a fly screen to catch something to feed their families. A recent study estimates that between 1950 and 2016, the abundance of fish declined by 93 percent in Mozambique, with its many shore-based subsistence fishing communities.
