Village band leads a parade of school children through the central square of Ayparavi on the 37th anniversary of the founding of the village. There are only some 150 people in Ayparavi, one of the only two remaining Chipaya-speaking villages in Bolivia. There are only some 2,000 Chipaya left from a culture that predates the Inca.
Events of the morning included the procession, cooking/serving a breakfast of tea and locally baked bread for the entire village, a formal donation by the government of a computer (the village's first) to the primary school, and local Chipaya officials getting drunk on beer in the administrative offices.
