First snow fall in 32 years lasts only a day or two in the Gorges du Ziz, which channels water from the high Atlas Mountains out into the Sahara Desert. It was extremely rare to see snow fall on palm trees, but this was the highest (1000m) elevation at which the desert trees are found.
