Aerial views of terraced farms of Naxi (minority) people just upstream from Judian at 6,500ft. The ground is terraced for growing millet, cabbage, corn, and wheat without irrigation, on a tributary of the Yangtze River. Many of the fields are dotted with piles of manure mixed with straw ready to be mixed into the soil before planting crops. Terraces here are plowed with water buffalo and small tractors.
