61-year-old Parani Hillman foraging for piko-piko (an edible fern species) and other medicinal and food plants in Te Urewera National Park. Fern shoots and roots were the traditional staple of the Maori before European contact. The Maori are demanding that all government lands be returned to them... this would include all the National Parks.
