Blue-footed boobies nesting amidst cardón cactus on San Pedro Martir Island, the fourth largest breeding colony of blue-footed boobies in the world. Young blue-footed boobies are fed by putting their beak inside the mouth of a parent, who then regurgitates fish (usually sardines). Large numbers of cardón appear to have died from exposure to bird excrement.
