A shaft of midday sunlight falls on a pool of fresh water in a lower section of Wadi Hidan, which is a branch of Wadi Mujib, in Mujib Nature Reserve. This slot canyon has year-round spring-fed flow through a narrow sandstone gorge that descends 1,200 m. from the Jordanian Plateau to the Dead Sea. The waters of the Mjib Reserve support numerous rare species, such as the Nubian ibex.
