An outrigger sailboat of spear fishermen paddling out on a calm morning near Kiriwina Island in the Trobriands. The fishermen spear the fish after releasing a fistful of pounded roots (poison) in holes in the reef. Around 2 PM that afternoon a thunderstorm blew in and provided enough wind to speed them to Kiriwina Island in time to sell the fish before the end of the market day.
