Aerial views of the SE corner of the Dead Sea, near Lisan Peninsula (Lisan means "tongue" in arabic), which separates the Dead Sea into two parts. The level of the water in the Dead Sea is dropping approx. one meter per year, and the newly exposed coastal areas are susceptible to sinking. The sink holes are caused by fresh ground water dissolving salty layers beneath the surface, causing cave-ins.
