Aerial view of Lisu (minority people) relocation village occupied by farmers who were encouraged by the government to move out of highland areas. They were encouraged to resettle at edge of forest (el. 9,000 ft.), closer to Weixi and more modernized facilities (health care, schools, electricity, roads, etc.). Corn is put up on wooden roofs of buildings to dry, ground is terraced for growing millet, cabbage, corn and wheat without irrigation, on a tributary of Mekong River. For thousands of years this has been a central point on the Tea Horse Road from Southern Yunnan to Lhasa.
