Aliman Ekouel & his daughter Farimana planting wheat and barley in the riverbed near Timia. Aliman's grandfather came here as a slave from Egypt. His father was born into slavery and didn't have his freedom until he was 20 years old. Aliman worked on the camel caravans to Bilma until his father died, when, as head of the family, he had to run the garden.
