Pulling in nets of sockeye salmon from shore-based set nets at the mouth of the Egegik River, Bristol Bay, Alaska. The beach is divided into sections roughly 100 yards wide for each licensee, with the gill nets extending perpendicular to the shore to catch the fish as they migrate upriver to spawn. These fishing licenses are highly-prized family possessions, and most are fished by extended families who come here every summer to work and live together in simple fishing cabins.
