The five wives of an absent husband finish up the roof of a grainary to shelter the annual sorghum harvest in a Toposa village named Namorupus, East Equatoria Province. Just after the roof was completed they were assisted by other villagers in lifting it up onto a raised platform where the grain would be kept safe from both pests and rain.
Men were off in the cattle camps in the hills; women, children and elderly were left in the village with goats. Daily village activities include grinding millet for eating, milking goats, doing bead work for women's clothes and home maintenance.
