First day of rice harvest in Heilongjiang Province is a showcase for growing China's primary staple. China Central TV organized 18 large combines to harvest the rice for taping a live broadcast on the national holiday. Heilongjiang is China's most productive province for rice and also grows the highest quality. Here on Erdaohe Farm they were harvesting Longjing 46 or "dragon rice 46", which was planted in early May and yields 650kg per mu (1 mu = 1.65 acres).
