Jonglei, South Sudan
Dinka cattle camp on the east bank of the Nile, where cattle are herded in the dry season to have good grazing and water. Each night the cattle return to camp for safety from cattle thieves and swarms of insects, which are kept away with dung fires. The small igloo-like structures are shelters for the Dinka, who now cover them with tarpaulins cast off by aid agencies.
