Sandibad beach in Tripoli just west of the new Mariott Hotel (tallest building in background) on a Friday afternoon, the Muslim sabbath. Friday afternoons are family time, and during the warm summer months, many locals flock to the beach. Women must remain fully covered, even while wading in the shallow water, and most of the married women stay under the shade of umbrellas to snack with their families while the kids and young men frolic in the water.
