A sea turtle that was caught while trying to lay eggs at full moon is dragged up on the rocks for slaughter. The meat was shared by the entire village of 120 people, and the shell was thrown into the sea afterward. An island as remote as Egum has little part in the trade of endangered species and its people depend on all forms of marine life for their survival.
