Looking toward Central Park from the newly constructed 432 Park Avenue building on an autumn morning with peak fall color in New York City.
With a height/width ratio of 14.5/1 (each of the twin towers of the original World Trade Center had a height/width ratio of 7/1), 432 Park is one of the world’s thinnest skyscrapers, with an unconventional structural system needed to reduce acceleration at the top, ensuring that apartment owners don’t become seasick. On the planning boards are 225 West 57th Street, projected to be 1,775 feet high on completion and a mere foot shorter than One World Trade, using their respective spires as a gauge, and 111 West 57th Street, as tall as 432 Park with a height/width ratio of 23/1.
