To handle the influx of a peak one-day attendance of up to 57 million pilgrims, the Prayagraj Mela Authority created a tent city on the sand bars of the Ganges (Ganga) and Yamuna Rivers, complete with metal roads, pontoon bridges, latrines, tents, piped water, cell phone towers, and electricty. This Kumbh Mela is much bigger than 2019, tent city is 4k hectares this time, vs 3.2k hectares in 2019.
Hindu pilgrims come to dip in the water at the confluence of the Ganga (Ganges) and Yamuna Rivers for the Maha Kumbh Mela. This Hindu festival is expected to attract over 400 million people during the six weeks when Jupiter, sun and moon are aligned with the certain constellations. The six-week festival that happens once every 12 years. It is the largest gathering of humanity on the planet.
